Driver safety tips

  1. Keep your students out of the danger zone which is ten feet around the bus.
  2. Make sure students use hand rails to get on and off the bus.
  3. Ensure all students talk quietly and stay seated on the bus.
  4. Make sure your students never stick your hands, head, or feet out the windows.
  5. Ensure all students are at the bus stop five minutes early.
  6. Students should use best practices and stay out of the street when at all possible, wear light clothing, utilize reflective Devices where applicable.
  7. Remember, never use your cell phone while driving. Pull over in a safe spot first, then call the person back. Using the phone while driving makes you about as safe as driving while intoxicated.
  8. Always wear your seatbelt. If you are involved in a collision, your belt may help keep you in your seat, in control of the bus.
  9. Watch your students as they get off your bus. Be sure you know where each one is before you pull away from the stop.
  10. Always check for sleeping students when you park your bus.
